Successful September Meeting

The September club meeting was a success considering it was the first meeting since March after the Covid-19 lock down, with 11 members present. The provincial Covid-19 restrictions were adhered to and although things were different the meeting proceeded without issue.

The new club Executive is the same as the previous executive. Thank you to all for your previous and future efforts on behalf of the club.

Field Day June 27 & 28, 2020

For those planning to participate in Field Day this weekend, June 27 & 28.
Just a reminder that we the TARC will not be doing Field Day from the club room this year due to Covid -19. So we are suggesting that you participate from home and have some fun with it. Some info follows.

  1. For members of the TARC or those who may wish to help boost the clubs points ensure that when you submit your results you indicate that your club is “Truro Amateur Radio Club”. Don’t change the wording or abbreviate it in any manner.
  2. Submitting your results for Field Day is easy – there is no need to submit your actual log, and it can be done online: https://field-day.arrl.org/fdentry.php You also gain an extra 50 bonus points for doing so!
  3. Field Day rules are available at: http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Field-Day/2020/1_61-2020%20Rules.pdf
  4. You start operating at 1500 Saturday, and keep going until 1500 Sunday.

June Club Meeting

Hi All,
Just to advise due to the pandemic we still don’t have permission to use the EMO Bldg for club meetings, so June’s club meeting is cancelled.

If there is an interest we could have a Google Meet video call to substitute for the face to face meetings. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Field Day is on this year but due to the pandemic it looks as though we will not be able to do it from the EMO bldg. But if you wish to participate you can do it from home and when you submit your log make sure you include that you are with TARC. For this year ARRL will be posting total accumulative club member contacts. I plan to do Field Day from home and hopefully others will do the same and we can get a good number of contacts for a good club total.

That’s it for now.

RAC Woman’s League

The Radio Amateurs of Canada are in the process of putting together what they are calling a Women’s League. The idea of the Women’s League is to encourage women to become amateur radio operators and or get on the air once they become amateurs. As well as a place for women to discuss amateur radio issues relating to them.

RAC is inviting women amateurs as well as women interested in amateur radio to participate in the planning process of this initiative. They are hoping to have monthly zoom meetings, the next being towards the end of June.

If any women are interested in getting involved more or less on the ground floor so to speak of this initiative. You can send me an email at ve1hul@rac.ca to let me know your interest and I will forward the next zoom meeting invitation to you as soon as I get it.
