Newbie Round Table

Sunday evenings at 2100 there will be a round table discussion net.

This discussion group is geared mainly for the new or newer amateur radio operator, but older more experienced operators are more than welcome to participate. All questions whether from a new or older amateur operator are good. I was once told by an instructor on a training course I was taking through the railroad, “There is no such thing as a stupid question, with one exception and that is the question not asked.”  The question when answered will be of benefit to everyone.

The main focus of the round table is on 2m vhf and 70cm uhf operation, but we are  open to discuss almost anything ham radio related.

The moderator will up link a number of repeaters to the Mavcom system to facilitate the discussion forum. The repeaters cover mainly from Antigonish to Greenwood and from Halifax to Summerside.

Generally the moderator will ask each individual who logs in at the start if they have any questions of comments for the round table on other occasions we have a topic for discussion. The moderator helps to keep things on topic and moving along. The discussions are designed to last approx 1hr but sometimes run up to 1 3/4hrs.

The beauty of the round table is it gets the new amateur the opportunity to ask questions and get the correct answers from some of the most experienced and knowledgeable amateurs in the Maritimes.

If anyone has comments, suggested topics or questions that you don’t want to ask over the air but would like to have an answer please send me an email at tarcnewbie@davidh.ca or ve1hul@rac.ca
